"Zephyr And Flora Mythology Carved Walnut Panel 66 X 45 Cm Golden Frame"
Beautiful walnut panel carved in relief of a mythological scene: The love of Zephyr and Flora, symbol (among other things) of the arrival of Spring. These two main characters are accompanied by a love seated next to an orange tree pot garnished with a shrub. Very beautiful drapes, full and nervous; Flora is represented as often crowned with flowers. This bas-relief sculpture is made from a single piece of wood. Only the head of Flore is brought back, original and fixed using two pieces of wrought iron, they protrude from the panel at the back (see photos). This is due to a constraint in the thickness, this part being prominent. Well framed with original gilded frame, good quality. Period late 18th - early 19th century. Good condition, to report some old woodworm holes plugged with wax, normal given the age. Beautiful waxed patina. Panel dimension: 66 x 45 x 5 cm
