Very beautiful and large oil on canvas measuring 73cm x 54cm plus cedar delft 93cm x 74cm Titled and countersigned on the back Michel JOUENNE is a very great contemporary painter his paintings already appear in Museums Jouenne is considered a master of modern figurative painting and of the material that he works with with a brush and a knife. Son of an engineer and a decorator on porcelain at the Manufacture de Sèvres, Michel Jouenne studied at the Lycée Claude-Bernard in Paris. He produced his first gouaches in 1947, and two years later made his debut at the Salon de Versailles by presenting three gouaches, one of which received an award. In 1955, he passed the competition to become a drawing teacher in the city of Paris. In 1956, he produced his first oils. In September 1957, Michel Jouenne married Simone Baril, with whom he had three boys: Christian, François and Bernard. That year, he produced many still lifes with game and poultry. In 1958, he was called up for the army, and carried out fourteen months of military service in Kabylia (Algeria) where he carried out pochades. In 1961, he joined the group of artists L'Atelier de Ville-d'Avray with Bernard Conte. In 1969, he participated for the first time in the Salon of Painters Witnesses of Their Time, whose theme that year was "Research and discovery of modern science".
