Mr. Portal was the consultant doctor of Monsieur (the king's brother), reader and professor of medicine at the Royal College of France; the Academy of Sciences, the Bologna Institute, and the Harlem, Montpellier and Edinburgh Science Societies; assistant professor and survivor of anatomy and surgery at the King's Garden. Portal was one of the founders of the Academy of Medicine. Second edition.
