Pair of candlesticks after a model by Claude Galle (1759-1815) In finely chiseled and gilded bronze, the shaft surmounted by three heads of a woman in the antique style, resting on a circular base decorated with water flowers, the all with games of gloss and mat. Height: 27.5 cm. The candle holders have been cleaned by a professional bronzer and are in good condition. The two bobeches are present. This model of candlesticks was delivered in 1804 by Claude Galle for the Palace of Fontainebleau, it is described "as 2 pairs [torches] with three heads". It is linked to a drawing illustrated in H.
