Sir Herbert Edwin Pelham HUGHES-STANTON
The artist was the son of William Hughes, still life painter, and father of Blair Hughes-Stanton, printmaker and illustrator. He won gold medals at the Paris Salon (1907 and 1908) and knighted in 1923. His association with St Ives, noted by Whybrow, was as a distinguished visitor to the area, most likely visiting friends .
