"French Musical Theme Clock"
French clock with a mythological figure, comparable to a genius, depicted while playing the lyre and emerging from an intricate scrollwork decorated with leaf motifs. On the top there is the clock whose bas-relief dial illustrates a scene with two figures, one male and one female, who seem to accompany the genius in his playing.On the patinated oval base, the motif of panoplies with musical instruments closes the circle of this representation in which music is the topic and every single element is a transfiguration of a melody that we cannot hear, but we can likewise imagine.
