"Important Louis XV Period Fireback"
Important Louis XV period fireback representing, in an ovoid medallion, the sacrifice of Isaac by his father Abraham at the request of God, and of his angel messenger to stop his gesture. An olive tree, water leaves and a cloudy sky border the scene. Two singular scalloped and palmated shells with pearl threads, untied in the shape of bat wings and a rich background of foliage scrolls sublimate this biblical scene. A very small crack is to be noted in the lower part. Its weight is 165 kg. Bibliography: CARPENTIER H., Plaques de chimées, Tome premier, F. DE NOBELE, Paris, 1967, page 33 N ° 24 and 25.
