Returned to France in 1883, he was a pupil of Durand-Brager and Isabey. He made his debut in 1855 at the Paris Salon of which he remained a faithful exhibitor. He devoted himself more particularly to the study of the gales of wind on the Breton coasts and in the North Sea, with also works reproducing landscapes of Normandy countryside or the Parisian suburbs. He also worked in collaboration with Poilpot on various panoramas. He regularly exhibited at the salons of French Artists and obtained a third medal in 1892. His delicate and strong talent at the same time earned him the esteem of all amateurs.
