"Corsair Safe Signed And Polychromed, 17th Century"
Corsair or Nuremberg chest in riveted iron plates. Abundant polychrome and a rare freshness present on the front, on the sides but also on the plateau. Floral and fruit motifs in contrasting colors. The key opens a complex mechanism with 5 bolts covered with an openwork plate and decorated with foliage. Presence of a chiseled and calligraphed signature: "Johan Otto". This rare mark can be the signature of the seasoned craftsman behind this original chest or be the name of the sponsor. The facade is adorned with a false keyhole to delay any break-in. The twisted iron handles allow this chest to be transported. Its dimensions allow it to be integrated into a wide choice of interior up to the apartment. 17th century period.
