Object description :

"Great Religious Khandjar Iraq"
Great ritual Khanjar, with a blade decorated with religious inscriptions enhanced with gold.
BLADE: steel, double-edged, sharp. Perhaps made so for use it during the sacrifice of the sheep? Blade length 36 cm
HILT : Dark wood, with turquoise, coral, and lapis lazuli inlays.
SCABBARD : this is the original sheath made of sewn leather .
This curious dagger is very unusual. The style of work, the sharp blade and the use of semi-precious stones seems to be a native work, probably for ritual use, and not a bazaar piece made for export.
The shape of the hilt is very similar to traditional Iraqi khandjars.
