"Pair Of Important Angels Torchiere Holder In Oak"
Rare Pair of important Cerofera Angels in oak wood. These two statues respond to each other in their graceful “contrapposto”: magnificently sculpted specularly, their resemblance and their differences make them two original sculptures. Beautiful oval faces with youthful expression and almond-shaped eyes, the pair swing in a harmonious, soft and wavy movement of the body and draperies, fluid and intertwined, with a very dramatic and forceful style result. The qualitative level of this work is remarkable, both in the virtuous pose of the characters and in the expressiveness of the anatomical data. The chiastic pose, which corresponds to the opposite arm and leg, concludes the elegant realization of the body. As a compositional counterpart, they each hold a free hand over the heart, while the other held a liturgical candlestick (missing, like the wings). The rough backs reveal their placement in a niche. Intact wooden structure.
