Travel Cutlery 3pc English Silver Metal Joseph Mappin Brothers XIXth

Folding travel cutlery (fork, spoon forming corkscrew and knife) in English silver metal, bone (beef) handle and steel blade, knife signed Joseph Mappin * and spoon and fork with Mappin Brothers hallmarks, period second half of the 19th century. These cutlery are in good condition. Hallmarked see photos. They are presented and stored in a small case which is not original (does not close, damaged and torn hinge, see red arrow). A note: small accident and missing in the end of the handle of the spoon, also at the notch on the handle of the fork, some slight snags on the blade of the knife (tiny traces of oxidation), scratches on the peaks of the fork, wear of time, take a good look at the photos. * Mappin Brothers Sheffield and London. The company was founded in 1810 by Joseph Mappin and became Joseph Mappin & Co in 1841. In 1846, the company merged with Willian Sansom & Sons, changing to Mappin Brothers. The partners were Frederick Torp, Edward, Joseph Charles (senior) and John Newton, son of founder Joseph Mappin. The company is active at Queens Cutlery Works, 6-10 Bakers Hill, Sheffield and its stores in London. In 1902, Mappin Brothers merged with Mappin & Webb.
