Beautiful large 18th century view of Westminster Bridge from the Thames, oil on canvas by William Marlow. Extensive view from the Thames passing the boats sailing the waters of the Thames with the distinct architecture of Westminster and the bridge in the distance. Stunning details of the calm waters, the intricate finish of the buildings, all under a sky filled with expansive clouds typical of the mauve painting of the time. Unsigned as with most works of the time, but the style is unique and with an accompanying plaque on the frame. Very good condition and rare view of early London of the highest quality by a leading painter on the subject.
