Beautiful large 18th century English still life study of an open book placed on a wooden floor with a "Monastic Ode ", oil on panel. Early and detailed study of an open book presenting a monastic ode in Latin and translated into English set on a wooded floor surrounded by leaves and acorns. Signed WJ dated 1792. Good condition of the panel for its age, clean surface and presented in an antique ebony frame.
