French School Circa 1800 : "le Pinson"

French school circa 1800: "Le pinson", oil or tempera on laid paper, glazed, 13 X 15 cm, mounted in an old frame with black heel with golden bevel 24 X 25 cm. Condition: angles shot, chipping. This delightful bird had been perched in our stairwell for more than twenty years alongside a partridge which has already flown away… The Artist's commitment to represent him from a low angle, his wings spread so to put its plumage in value shows a hand of Master. A little gem. Well, that's it, a page is turned: after 11 years of occupation, we are leaving our official apartment in Biarritz while waiting to find one of our own, but the Galerie de Biarritz is of course continuing its activity.
