Dim: Height: 197 cm, width: 101 cm
Elegant Régence period mirror in carved and gilded wood, lined with mirrors with bevelled sides; the main rectangular mirror is surmounted by a pyramidal pediment. The main part is delimited by thin, slightly domed rods with a so-called “Berain” decoration where each corner is decorated with acanthus leaves extended by lilies hiding the cutouts of the mirrors in the reserves. The pediment is a set of moldings decorated with garlands of flowers and palms delimiting a central reserve, the top part is adorned with a large jagged shell. The palm decoration and “bérain” baguettes delimit reserves of “mercury” mirrors with bevelled sides. The whole of the woodcarving is unified by a fine repair and an original gilding varying the effects of matt and shine in order to capture the light.
Quality object in a very good state of conservation with a certain decorative effect.
