Follower of Nattier Portrait of a Woman Jane Stanhope countess HST 18th century Jane Stanhope (1755-1824) Portrait of Jane Stanhope around the age of 15 under the reign of Louis XV. Lady Harrington became famous for her fashion sense and physical appeal; she and Georgiana Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire, were named "the best dressed ladies" at a party hosted by the Duchess in September 1782. In 1794 she became chambermaid to Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, wife of the Duchess. King George III. Very favored by Queen Charlotte, Lady Harrington was lady of the chamber until the death of the queen in 1818. French school of the 18th century.
