Emile-Auguste REIBER (1826-1893)
Architecture graduate from the Beaux Arts in Paris, Prix de Rome in 1850, founder of the review "Art for all, encyclopedia of industrial and decorative art".
Head of the composition and drawing workshop at Maison Christofle in 1865, he composed numerous drawings and plans, many of which were made. In 1870, he developed a passion for Japanese art, especially after the exhibition in Paris in 1873, of the collection of Japanese bronzes by M. Cernuschi in 1873.
His Japanese-style creations for the house of Christofle met with immense success both in France and in 'internationally, notably during the exhibitions in Vienna in 1873 and in Paris in 1878.
Japanese artists even come to Europe to study his work. He left the Christofle house in 1878.
His works are exhibited in many Museums including in Paris at the Musée d'Orsay and at the Decorative Arts.
