Macchad or Mechhed rug, Iran circa 1970 in hand-knotted kork wool, for around 360,000 knots per m2, signed by the master knotter in white on a pale blue background (see photos). In very good condition, borderline perfect. This very beautiful carpet comes from the province of Mechhed. Mecched is the second largest city in Iran located in the northeast and nicknamed "the city of a thousand faces." This carpet is in excellent condition, and has a very beautiful decoration of a large medallion with two pendants covering the field. All over the field appear fine wavy and flowery volutes, the colors are very fresh and vivid with a dominant of red and deep blue for the field, the border is formed of side bands, quite narrow, decorated with flowers and a wide central band embellished with a floral decoration. The field decorated with a beautiful and very elaborate central medallion is set by four spandrels, the Fringes are in good condition and very clean.
