Portrait of Countess Marie Du Barry, 18th century Inscribed in by François-Hubert Drouais (1727-1775) Beautiful large 17th century French portrait inscribed as Countess Jeanne Dubarry wearing a blue silk dress, oil on canvas. Beautiful full-length portrait of the lady in excellent condition and presented in a unique blackened octagonal frame. Dubarry was the titular mistress of King Louis XV. She would later become one of the victims of the reign of terror during the French Revolution. Old label inscription at the bottom referring to the artist Drouais. The portrait shows the lady seated in an interior resting on a blue sheet with her hair powder free. Dimensions: 92cm x 73cm framed approximately
