"Anne De Chardonnet - Bust Of The Artist's Father - Plaster"
Bust portrait of Count Hilaire de Chardonnet, inventor of artificial silk and important textile manufacturer from Besançon. In 1919, he was elected member of the Academy of Sciences, in the section of applications of science to industry. He is represented here in his academician costume. His bust portrait is made by his daughter, the sculptor Anne de Chardonnet (1869-1926). She is a student of sculptors Mathurin Moreau and Jules Franceschi. She exhibited at the Salon of French artists in Paris from 1911 to 1926. This bust will be reproduced on a large scale and placed at the entrance of the various branches of the family business. A marble version of our bust is in the collections of the Museum of Fine Arts and Archeology of Besançon. Our version is in patinated plaster in imitation of verdigris bronze.
