"Mahogany Bidet From The Castles Of Rambouillet And Fontainebleau"
Mahogany bidet resting on four feet including two sabers at the back and two cane feet rudenté at the front. The backrest is rolled up and features a sculpted flower vase decoration on the band and grooves on the uprights. The seat is also richly carved on the front of a trophy consisting of a quiver, a bow, a torch, an olive wreath and a ribbon. The circumference of the seat is sculpted with a torso ribbon. A small trap allows to discover a storage at the foot of the file. The seat is closed by a board lined with leather. Many ink marks are visible under the seat and under the cover. There is also a trace of the label. The origin of this bidet is multiple: undoubtedly a royal order or for the Garde Meuble, we find it for the first time at the castle of Rambouillet in 1817, then at the castle of Fontainebleau until at least 1849.
