The old Lyonnaise chest of drawers from the 18th century is inspired by the Louis XV style.
The Lyon chest of drawers is easily recognized by its rich sculpted decoration. The facade is slightly curved or crossbow.
The low waistband is straight or eventful, often with a Regency shell in the middle, and rests on low arched feet. The tray cut in bec-de-corbin is made of wood.
Foliage, arabesques, acanthus leaves ... are arranged symmetrically on the side borders of the drawers and in spandrels, forming the sculpted decoration very characteristic of the Lyon style. Lyon cabinetmakers almost always use walnut, which is easy to work with and which patina beautifully over time.
