Important fountain or baptismal water reserve * Haute Epoque, lead (and pewter), from a religious community in the region of Mâcon (Burgundy), period around 1500 late 15th-early 16th centuries. Architecturally shaped with a parallelepipedic body surmounted by a wall-mounted roof; body decorated with a series of gables with hooks separated by buttresses on a molded base; roof with hooked ridges, ornamental frieze of florets, openwork crest of florets, pinnacle with four volutes; front roof opening closed by a shutter rising from four lobes. Expertise Ms. Fligny (Paris). This fountain is in good condition and is of exceptional quality. Its decor and size make it a rare piece of Catholic worship. This piece was sold at public auction about thirty years ago (description and photo of the period catalog visible in the last photo).
