"Leon Dupuy (galien-laloue) : "oise In Saint-leu-d'esserent""
Eugène Galien-Laloue (1854-1941), under the pseudonym of Léon Dupuy: “Bords de l'Oise in Saint-Leu-d'Esserent”, oil on canvas 65 X 92 cm mounted in a large, slightly damaged gilded frame 88 X 114 cm. Under contract with merchants, Galien-Laloue, who is best known for his views of Paris in gouache, used many pseudonyms under which he produced landscapes and animated scenes with incredible virtuosity and "fra-presto" to satisfy his many amateurs. Our canvas, very removed, of an exceptional format for the Artist, is fortunately located on the back on the frame, which is rare. These banks of the Oise, bordered by farms with typical architecture and animated by barges, gaze at a calm water under a nuanced sky.
