"Venus And Cupid - Oil On Tablet 18th Century"
The oil painting on the tablet represents Venus lying sensually on two white cushions which lovingly tries to disarm Cupid, intertwining her knowing gaze. A serene lake landscape in the background completes the scene. The result is a work imbued with a refined sensuality. For style and pictorial manners, the work refers to the painter Antonio Bellucci (Venice, February 19, 1654 - Soligo, August 29, 1726), who worked at the imperial court in Vienna as well as in various Habsburg principalities (Düsseldorf, Mainz) and finally to London (his works at Buckingham Palace), before returning to his hometown where he ended his life. He was a typical representative of Baroque decorative painting at the turn of the two centuries. In his vast and spectacular compositions - of mythological, allegorical, biblical subjects - and in his portraits of noble figures, he liked to indulge in a sumptuous staging. cm.50x40 with frame - without frame 43x33.5
