Superb engraved work, conceived, drawn and directed by Jean-Martin Weis, engraver of the City of Strasbourg, printed by Laurent Aubert in Paris and bound by Padeloup Relieur du Roy, place Sorbonne in Paris. It includes: a title engraved by Martin Marvie, a splendid equestrian portrait of Louis XV engraved by Johan Georg Wille (after Parrocel and Chevallier), 11 large engravings on double page numbered from 1 to 11 engraved by Jean-Philippe Le Bas ( engraver of the Cabinet du Roy) and Jean-Martin Weis representing the arrival of the king, the procession, the entrance to the church, the decorations and the illuminations of the monuments, the fireworks, etc. and 20 pages of engraved text richly adorned with frames and fleurons. Finally the last 2 engravings, in band and in cul-de-lamp, by Marvie. Binding in marbled Padeloup calfskin, with its engraved label, stuck on the title page; the back bears the date 1744. Dimensions: 63.5 x 47.5 cm (folio) As is with its patina, its wounds from time, stains. Complete, no missing page. Jean-Martin Weis is listed in Bénézit as well as in the New Dictionary of Alsatian Biography.
