Large work of the painter Lucien-Victor Delpy which represents a view of the corniche in Marseille, in the evening. The precision of his gesture as well as his palette of colors allow to perfectly transcribe the atmosphere along the corniche, in the evening, in Marseille.
Born in Paris in 1898, he took lessons in the studio of the painter Cormon and Laurens. He exhibited for the first time at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1922.
Influenced by his debut by Sydney Thompson, he loved his bright palette and generous paste. He conceived his own vision: more panoramic and with the search for a precise light, playing with the contrast of clear colors. Right in his compositions, quickly seizing the motif, his touch gives life and rhythm to his works.
In 1931, at the age of 30, he became Painter of the Navy. From then on, he frequented Brest and its military port a lot. He also travels to Algeria, Indochina and Marseille whose artery offers us here a beautiful composition of the Phocaean city.
Dimensions: 70 x 100 cm without frame and 107 x 126 cm with its original Montparnasse wood frame (old frame restorations)
