Beautiful work of the Marseille painter François Gautier which represents a view of the harbor of Toulon bustling with warships.
Painter specializing in seascapes who represent the shores of the Mediterranean, the artist was able to transcribe this military squadron by a rough sea.
A pupil of Johanny Rave at the Marseille school, he worked alongside painters Emile Loubon, Jean-Baptiste Olive and Adolphe Monticelli during this period. He exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1866 to 1870 marines. After the war, he led a discreet life and devoted himself entirely to painting.
His work consists mainly of seascapes.
Dimensions: 38 x 61 cm without frame and 48 x 72 cm with its wooden frame.
