"Pair Of Renaissance Style Armchairs, Lion Paws And Mufles, Small Dots Tapestry With Griffons"
Rare and very imposing pair of high-backed Renaissance style armchairs, in walnut, manufacture second half of the 19th century. Sumptuous carving work on all the woodwork: armrests with lion heads, front feet in lion's paws, and magnificent decoration of foliage and stylized windings surrounding a lion's head on the front rails. Spacer in H. Our armchairs are covered with old tapestries entirely made with small dots decorated with griffins on the backrests. The embroidery and colors are different on each armchair. These tapestries, as well as the fittings, are original. They are obviously worn in places and have some lacks. It would be parafitably possible to have these armchairs covered with new by keeping the parts embroidered with griffins which are on the other hand well preserved. The seat is somewhat relaxed. The woodwork is in excellent condition and has a superb patina. These seats are very solid and perfectly stable. It is very rare to find this style of seating with such carving work.
