"Pair Of Candlesticks / Empire Candlesticks In Gilt Bronze With Mercury & Patina, Restoration Period"
Pair of candlesticks or large tripod candlesticks with a baluster and claw feet in patinated and gilded bronze, on a gilded bronze terrace. Empire style work from the Restoration period - early 19th century around 1820. Beautiful, elegant model with very neat finishes. A good complement to an Empire or early 19th century decoration. They are in excellent condition. The mercury gilding is extremely fresh as is the bronze patina. They seem new despite their 200 years of age. Our candlesticks probably had to be displayed and kept under globes as was the fashion at the beginning of the 19th century, which explains their extraordinary state of preservation, in order to satisfy the most demanding collectors.
