The work, of strictly Veneto taste from the second half of the sixteenth century, is to be carried over to an artist undoubtedly influenced by the style of Paolo Caliari known as the Veronese, in particular stylistic assonances are detectable with works by Benedetto Caliari, brother of the famous mannerist painter.
The composition is undoubtedly derived from the original of the Veronese, representing the same subject, located in the Palazzo Rosso in Genoa and dated around 1580.
The episode represents the moment when the biblical heroine Giuditta holds out the head of the condottiere Assiro to her servant.
