Snuff box in wood called Saint Lucie, fruit wood from Lorraine (Saint Lucia, a former monastery near Sampigny where this wood was cultivated and worked by sculptors). The lid is carved with this formula which is illustrated in the carved decoration of a bird flying from its cage to the open door in an ornament of flowering stems.France, early 18th century
