Charles Blanc was famous from a young age, and considered by Louis Vauxcelles as the greatest among the successors of the Fauves.
The virulence, the audacity, the generosity and the quality of the paste, the authority of the touch, quickly established him as one of the best expressionists. But his refusal to compromise, the intransigence of his character, ended up discouraging his admirers; he was forgotten after 1945.
The painting is in good condition.
