Pair of oil on canvas from the first half of the 18th century, showing two mythological scenes.
The first scene represents; Proserpina goddess of spring before her abduction by Pluto.
Proserpina is a Roman deity equivalent to Persephone in Greek mythology. She is the daughter of Ceres and Jupiter.
The second scene represents; The triumph of the nymph Galatea. The painting shows the apotheosis of the nymph Galatea, carried in triumph over the waters, an episode drawn from ancient Latin culture and repeated from the Renaissance.

Follower of Filippo LAURI Filippo Lauri (Rome, 25 August 1623 - 12 December 1694)

Both paintings are on their original canvas. Only the frames have been changed The two superb frames are from the 18th century.
