Old Persian Rug Mechkabad, Iran, 149 Cm X 212 Cm, Hand-knotted Wool At The Beginning Of The 20th Century

This very beautiful old carpet from the beginning of the 20th century is called Mechkabad, and measures 149 cm wide for a length of 212 cm.
The carpet is in very good collectable condition, the wool is thick, soft and of good quality.
These rugs originate from the village of the same name.
They were called Mahal and then Sarouk-mahal, because they come from the region of Mahallat.
The city of Mechkabad, very important in the nineteenth century, a great center of carpet production, is not even mentioned on the maps today, neglected by its inhabitants, only ruins remain that can be seen. take the road from Arak to Qom, about 25 kms from Arak on the right.
A blue and white medallion placed on a copper-brown field, cut in white on the sides and at the angles are the design that we find on these rugs, while using other colors.
These pieces are always abundantly flowered and the flower design of the medallion is often found in the spandrels.
Unfortunately many people confuse them with other types of rugs and sources.
Our model is in very good condition for its age and has the characteristics described above.
