Very large watercolor by the painter Joseph Jeannot (1855-?) Representing rocks in the forest of Fontainebleau. The work is signed lower right "J. Jeannot". Dimensions with its original frame: 81 cm x 105 cm Good condition. Born in Ornans (Doubs), the homeland of the painter Gustave Courbet, Joseph Jeannot became a member of the Society of French Artists and exhibited regularly at the Salon from 1886. After Paris, he moved to Marlotte at the heart of an artistic community that has saw a number of plein air painters and faithful impressionists such as Alfred Sisley and Auguste Renoir pass by. Close to Eugène Alluaud whom he frequented during his stays in Crozant from 1897-1898, Joseph Jeannot exhibited regularly in Limoges between 1903 and 1908, at the invitation of the Limousin Arts association.
