The breast plte is originally manufactured in 3 hot-riveted parts: A central part and two side parts.
On the side parts there is a passage for belts. The entire border of the breastplate is pierced with small holes which were very probably used for fixing the internal cloth protection .
On the outer left side (when the cuirass is worn) there is a difference in the structure of the metal, (slightly less deep oxidation) probable old repair (?) This is absolutely not a modern paste or a resin : it is indeed steel.
The whole piece remains very homogeneous and of a beautiful effect.
This type of breastplate built in 3 parts is only very rarely encountered, I have not found precise historic regulatory references.
Probably this breastplate Germanic, but precise references are lacking.
