Object description :

"Fernand Laval (1886-1966) - Rue De Paris - School Of Paris"
Very nice painting by Fernand Laval (1886-1966) signed lower left and representing a street in Paris. Dimensions: 84 cm x 65 cm Good condition. Fernand Laval arrived in Paris in 1912 where he befriended Maurice Utrillo and roamed the streets of Montmartre with his easel. In 1913 he married Rachel Cohenet and in 1920 he made his first appearance at the Salon d'Automne where he presented a painting titled “De Montmartre aux Halles”. He also worked abroad, notably in the Netherlands, painting many windmills in the years 1927-28 and he went to Belgium, where he painted the port of Antwerp. In homage to Renoir in 1963 he painted RENOIR's house `` la Collette '' in Cagnes-sur-mer. His favorite subjects will always remain the heart of Paris, Montmartre, including the Sacré-Coeur, the suburbs of Paris, the old fortifications and the Canal St Martin.
