"Louis XV Style Painted Trumeau"
The Sleeping Shepherdess.- Trumeau painted in Louis XV Style. Pretty wall lamp in rectangular shape in molded, carved and gilded wood on an old green lacquered background with rococo motifs. Topped by a straight cornice, it presents in the lower part in a curved frame with shoulders embellished with acanthus sticks, a mirror topped with a blooming shell. Volutes, palmettes, leaves and acanthus staple in the upper part run through the scalloped profile of a cartouche on the subject of gallant pastoral care. With a fine and neat invoice, this one takes again a pictorial composition of François Boucher (1703-1770) today preserved in Paris (Louvre, Mobilier National): "La Bergère endormie", 1743. Small proportions, intentionally colored deliciously old-fashioned, Rocaille touch, tableautin filled with a youthful tenderness give this trumeau all its charm.
