Louis XVI Gold Snuff Box. 1780.

Oval snuffbox in three tones of gold (yellow, green and pink gold). The hinged lid is decorated with a medallion with a country trophy framed by a garland of leaves and roses. It stands out on a guilloche of waves. The edges of the lid and the frame are decorated with a frieze of interlacing yellow and green gold standing out on a gold background.  Four rectangular panels underlined by a frieze of laurel garlands make up the bate. Between these panels, pilasters decorated with laurel leaves give rhythm to the composition. The bottom of the snuffbox has the same finely chiseled decoration of guilloche wavelet. Some traces of wear.
