"Chryselephantine Athena XIXth Century"
Rare chryelephantine representing the goddess Athena. Her right ivory arm rests on her shield adorned with the head of Medusa. On her ivory head she wears a large gilt bronze helmet Her richly draped dress is also in gilded bronze . Difficult to date it exactly in the XIXth century; The subject is neoclassical par excellence.
