A pair of portraits of the Biedermeier family was executed c. 1830-1840 in the quality and the manner very close to the famous Viennese portrait painter Franz Eybl (1806 - 1887). Franz Eybl was an Austrian painter and lithographer born in Vienna in 1806. He was one of the foremost masters of the genre and a very popular portrait painter in Vienna society circles. Thieme / Becker "Lexicon of artists from antiquity to contemporary", Leipzig, 1999 Inscription: unsigned, on the back of the two portraits - inscriptions with the artist's name; old labels with the inventory numbers of a former collector. Technique: portrait of a lady - oil on wood, portrait of a gentleman - oil on canvas. Original gold-plated frames.
Dimensions: unframed lady 22.3 x 27.5 cm, gentleman 23.5 x 28.3 cm; each framed 28 x 43 cm.
Condition: in very good condition.
