A pupil of Jean Léon Gérome and Marius Michel, he also felt the influence of Maufra whom he met in 1895 in Trébeurden. He participates in the Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts, the Salon d 'Automne e des Tuileries.
In 1904 he exhibited at the prestigious Bernheim gallery with presentation in the catalog by Octave Mirbeau, continuing until 1909. In these years he visited Belgium and Holland, attracted by the particular light. He exhibited abroad in the cities of Rotterdam, London, New York, Brussels, Zurich, Barcelona, Zaragoza, San Francisco, Riga and Tokyo.
Painter of the Impressionist tradition, he soon left the Atelier to paint directly en plein air. An admirer of Monet and Sisley, without ever becoming their imitator, his landscapes with vibrant features are painted outdoors, on prepared vermilion canvases. The preparation often emerges giving the outlines of objects unusual reddish hues.
Many of his works have been purchased by the French state to be placed in various ministries, prefectures, town halls, museums.
