Decor of three large crenellated blue crosses placed on an orange field strewn with very stylized flowers.
A wide border of a colored checkerboard, blue, orange, brown and white, bordered by two brightly decorated braids.
Gabbeh in Farsi means "raw, natural, whole", one of the Persian languages which designates a carpet which is characterized by a coarse and rather primitive pattern, most often knotted by the Gashghais nomads of the province of Fars, in the southwest. from Iran.
These rugs are probably the most famous hand-knotted nomadic rugs from Iran because they are very fashionable nowadays.
They are made of hand-spun wool, for both the velvet and the warp, and the yarn is dyed with vegetable dyes.
These rugs are much thicker than other Persian rugs, sometimes reaching up to 2.5cm thick with long pile. Our model is rather thin around 8 mm.
The pattern of the rug is often of a simple type, with only a few insertions of decorative objects, mostly rectangular, containing animals.
Over the past five decades, weavers, to satisfy the desires of Westerners, have begun to use large, light fields on Gabbeh rugs with sparse decoration which is popular for their simplicity.
But we meet some very flowery models on bright fields like one of our models, maybe they benefited from the influence of the Baloch people, further north.
This carpet is in beautiful condition intended for an amateur who ignores the wear of time, its brilliant colors are of rare great beauty and it presents a beautiful patina and wear due to its good age.
