"Mahogany And Lemon Wood Cylinder Desk, Louis XVI Period Bordeaux Work"
Spectacular cylinder desk in mahogany, mahogany veneer and lemon wood in ebony and stained wood frames. The manufacturing is very neat, the cabinet is divided into three superimposed parts slightly recessed: A lower part for office use resting on four tapered and fluted legs with a sliding top and four drawers below, a double on the right with its chest and its coin mechanism. A central unit with curved uprights in a single block comprising the cylinder and the row of three drawers above, the cylinder revealing a pretty interior with compartments and small drawers including two secrets. Finally, an upper part with two glass doors, it is topped with a cornice. Remarkable, the slight shrinkage is obtained by reducing the section of the uprights, they are all adorned with grooves. The backs are in walnut, as is often the case on Louis XVI Bordeaux furniture. Clover locks, keyhole locks, handles and knobs in original brass. Superb and rare port work (Bordeaux) from the Louis XVI period.
