By Xavier Tharin, c. 1860 Paris, hand-colored lithographed scene of a Mediterranean port scene with abbey, fountain, viaduct and watchtower on a hill, with two-train clock movement striking the hours and halves on a gong, 2 ½ in. (5.6 cm) enameled Roman dial signed "THARIN A PARIS", three tunes pulling cylinder movement and barrel automaton controlling: nodding monk reading in tower room, musician nodding and stamping his foot playing the lute, twisted glass rod in the fountain, lady repairing the net near the port wall, a rocking ship in the foreground and two others on the horizon, - In an elaborate gilded wood frame with a style of job printed inside, frame 120x100 cm. Beautiful exhibition piece in working order
