Miniature Early 18th Century, The Declaration, Att. K.g Klingstedt, Period Framinging

Pretty oval miniature, painted on paper or vellum, India ink, and enhanced with light touches of vermilion. The subject is gallant: declaration of love, finely executed. The artist's hand is very easily recognizable: it is Gustave Klingstedt, (Riga 1657 + Paris 1734) miniaturist of Swedish origin, in great demand in European courts, nicknamed: the Raphael of snuff boxes, he made some very sought after erotic miniatures ....
Schidloff, in his miniature dictionary has made an exhaustive article on this artist, who did not sign, and was of course imitated, but here the quality is not in doubt! Several of his works are in the Stockholm museum, the Louvre, the Wallace, Aix ....
Our miniature undoubtedly comes from the inside cover of a missing snuffbox. The gilded bronze frame, 18th century is superb, rococo pediment with ribbons, and its period blown glass. (2 small chips).
