"Afchar Carpet (iran)"
Afchar carpet (Iran) in Wool of dimensions 1.70 x 1.25 meters. The nomadic Afchari tribe, originally from Azerbaijan, was, due to its turbulence, deported to the Kirman region in the 16th century. Despite this unfortunate fact, Persian art has benefited from this cultural mixture. The movements of this tribe between Kirman and Shiraz give us a glimpse of the types of loans made in these neighboring towns. These are the diamond-shaped decoration by Shiraz, the floral motifs by Kirman, or even more original and typical designs such as the “rooster” Afchar (the field with stylized birds) or a multiple and diverse reproduction of the boteh motif.
