Object description :

"Vine Decor Vase, émile Gallé (1846-1904), Art Nouveau, Nancy, Early 20th Century"
Laminated glass vase using the etching technique. The theme of the composition is the vine, one of the most popular plants in France, from which the artist was inspired for the flora. The vine branches slightly resemble Japanese stylized floral ornaments. Gallé did not hide his inspiration from the art of the land of cherry blossoms, on the contrary, he signed some of his works with the annotation "alla Japonica". The Manufacture Émile Gallé was famous for its high-end furniture and glassware. Gallé loved walks in the wild forests, he also had his little botanical garden, and he hung a sign above the door of his studio: "Our roots are deep in the forest - by the streams and among the mosses. . "Nancy, Gallé d'Émile, early 20th century Mark with an asterisk next to the name, used in 1904-5. Height 41cm.
